First band rehearsal

The whole city is in full holiday swing even though the weather continues balmy, and there has been nary a single snowflake. I doubt it will snow on my birthday next week, and that seems to be a sign of change - because it always has before now.
I had a rehearsal with the rhythm section today for the upcoming Metropolitan Room dates (12/28 - 31), and I am very pleased. Jon Burr and Tony Jefferson (on bass and drums respectively) are just terrific, and of course I have Tex Arnold, my harmonic hero, on the keyboard. He has written some great arrangements for me which will be having their first performances ever next week. I have got my homework to do - lots of lyrics to memorize, key changes, tricky melody lines...and I have to practice walking in high heels, too, because one can never be too careful. But overall, I am eagerly looking forward to the gig, now that the rehearsal has reminded me about how much fun the music is.
